Hawks AFL celebrate fun season

A fairly successful year for our club has now ended, with two teams in the finals and our Auskick numbers up.
The Auskickers enjoyed a great year, with many new players and parents. The competition focuses on fun aspects of the game and development of skills, while parents really like that matches are played at the same time each week.
The U10s had a great year making the finals for the first time in many years. The rotation of players on the field each quarter means a fairer go for all. Other modified rules make it safer and help players develop their skills.
Best and Fairest: Toby Bishop (Stanwell Park). Runner Up: Ryan Findanis (Helensburgh). Most Consistent: Trent Druce (Engadine). Best First Year: Lachlan Smith (Helensburgh). Coach’s Award: Jack Stevens (Engadine). Most Improved: Paddy Taylor (Woronora Heights).
The U11s, with many new players, started off slow but finished with four straight wins to make the finials, only to be beaten by the eventual premiers.
Best and Fairest: Chris Doran (Helensburgh). Runner Up: Reagan Sharpe (Engadine). Most Consistent: Zac Quinn (Woronora Heights). Best First Year: Jacob Robins (Heathcote). Coach’s Award: Jayden Thistlewaite (Stanwell Park). Most Improved: James Thomas (Engadine).
The U16s tried hard all year, only to lose a few close games and miss the finals.
Best and Fairest: Lachlan Brady (Helensburgh). Runner Up: Andrew Herne (Engadine). Best First Year: Joshua Brady (Helensburgh). Most Consistent: Harrison Field (Heathcote). Coach’s Award: Jonathan Stringfellow (Heathcote).
That’s it for another year. Next year (2007) is our 50th, so for more information on that or anything else, go to our website www.heathcotehawks.org.
Have a safe break and see you all and more next year!
