Global warming: what you can do
By Karen Barnett and Michelle Grosvenor

The earth is heating up and as concern about global warming gathers momentum, a local group will hold a public event on climate change in February featuring a must-see presentation by Dr Michael Tse.
The presentation at Helensburgh Community Centre, 3pm Saturday 17 February is aimed at giving people information about the enormity of the problem, and how they can individually make a difference. There will be an unsupervised children’s activity room available and entry is a gold coin donation.
The key speaker, Dr. Michael Tse, has been personally trained by Al Gore, the former US Democrat who made the groundbreaking film, ‘An Inconvenient Truth”. During Al Gore’s recent Australian visit Dr Tse was selected from over 1700 applicants to be one of 75 people trained by Al Gore to spread the word about global warming around the country.
The three most important aspects of Dr Tse’s presentation are the scale and significance of the problem posed by climate change, the fact that there is no longer any doubt as to the causes and the incredible urgency of the issue – global warming will pose a substantial problem to the world community within 10 years.
The organisers, Northern Illawarra Climate Coolers (NICC), are hoping that once people are armed with the facts, they’ll be keen to take action for the future of our children.
“Global warming is such a significant issue, we all have to reassess how we go about our day-to-day activities. Our organisation gives people a way of becoming part of the solution”, said Phil Preston of the NICC.
