Green Business Grants

Wollongong City Council is celebrating Sustainability Week with the launch of 25 Green Business Grants designed to encourage local businesses to adopt sustainable practices within the workplace.

Thanks to $50,000 in funding from Council’s Environment Fund, small to medium sized businesses are invited to apply for their chance to win one of 25 Green Business Grants valued at up to $2000 each.

Council’s Manager of Environment and Recreation, Lisa Miller, said the aim of the grant program is to help businesses with no more than 100 staff, implement a range of measures to improve organisational sustainability.

“The grants may cover sustainable measures including the retrofitting of lighting, the replacement of environmentally inefficient equipment, upgrading of environmental protection equipment or payment of consulting fees relating to green business improvements,” Lisa Miller said.

“As part of the grant funding, Council expects applicants will contribute an equal amount of funds to their green business project, and will need to complete their identified improvements within four months of receiving the grant.”

Businesses wishing to apply for a grant must do so before 28 April by emailing chopley@wollongong.nsw.gov.au
