Go green and save

By Gina Krohn

Are you one of the many who don’t switch off when you’ve finished the job? Some people think that switching off electronic equipment such as computers, sound systems or TV’s, shortens the life of the unit.

Not so, says Leo Bamforth, owner of South Coast Electronic Services:

“Electronic equipment is like people – the wear comes from continual use, not waking up each day. There is no damage to equipment from routine or programmed shutdowns, and turning off electronic equipment at the wall will save you money - not enough to retire on, but enough to make a difference to your wallet and to your carbon footprint.’
