Young Gymnast of the Month

Gymnast of the Month for June goes to: Paige Penrose!

Paige is a local eight year old who this month has excelled herself in training. She is currently training to compete in the level 1C category. Paige’s favorite apparatus is Bars and is determined to score well on this in her first competition in June. The young gymnast also loves to tumble and doing skills on the trampoline.

Gymnastics Coach Teresa Kay believes that Paige’s willingness to train hard and achieve her goals was the deciding factor in awarding her the Gymnast of the Month Award.

Going beyond the Bars, Paige loves playing with her large dog Sam, swimming and tennis, while her favorite hobby is being creative with her Dad, Scott, photography and designing the tree house.

Coastlands Kids Gymnastics operates every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Classes are all about having fun and building up skills. As Coastlands Kids Gymnastics gets stronger we will have an increasing ability to compete on a regional and state level. Currently programs offered include Kindergym, Recreational, Boys and Girls Competition, and Acro/Tumble (introduction to Sports Acrobatics).

Why do gymnastics? It offers:

• The essentials of co-ordination, balance, strength and flexibility.

• An understanding of the connection between effort and achievement, persistence and reward.

• Your child experiences the fun and friendship of teamwork, plus the satisfaction of individual accomplishment.

The types of physical & mental skills learnt in gymnastics are in fact foundation stones for many other sports, preparing students in all twelve Fundamental Movement Skills. Why not come along and see what it’s all about?
